Fredson Guilengue of the Rosa Luxemburg Foundation meets DIS-MOI Team in Mauritius
On Saturday, 26th April 2025, the Regional Secretariat of DIS-MOI (Droits Humains Océan Indien) in Mauritius had the honour of welcoming Mr. Fredson Guilengue, Senior Programme Manager at the Rosa Luxemburg Foundation’s Southern Africa Office based in Johannesburg, South Africa. This visit was a pure moment of exchange, reflection, and collaboration between DIS-MOI and one of its key international partners in the field of social justice and transformative education. This visit reaffirmed the shared values between DIS-MOI and the Rosa Luxemburg Foundation and opened pathways for deepened collaboration across the Indian Ocean and African continent.
During his visit, Mr. Guilengue engaged in a dynamic and open dialogue with staff members, board representatives, and members from various commissions of DIS-MOI. The exchange took the form of a participatory discussion, where Mr. Guilengue responded to questions on international solidarity, the role of civil society in the Global South, strategies for resilience in activism, and opportunities for long-term partnership-building.
Mr. Guilengue also expressed his appreciation for the work undertaken by DIS-MOI across the Indian Ocean islands, particularly in promoting a culture of human rights among young people. He encouraged the continuation of grassroots-driven initiatives that centre dignity, inclusion, and socio-political awareness.
